Crown Crawler is a game for Apple Watch with an optional iPhone companion. It has no accounts, no ads, no analytics and no tracking, and the developer receives no data about you or how you play.
What stays on your devices
- Your save and your runs. Relics, blessings, your best distance and your journal of past runs are stored on your Apple Watch and, if you use the companion, on your iPhone. If you're signed in to iCloud, your progress is also backed up to your own iCloud (see below).
- Syncing between them. The watch sends your runs to your own iPhone using Apple's WatchConnectivity. They travel directly between your paired devices. They do not pass through any server run by the developer.
- The watch-face widgets. The game shares a few facts with its three widgets, kept on your watch where only the game and its widgets can read them (an App Group): for Today's Dungeon, your best distance in today's dungeon and which day it was; for Road to Ardmoor, how far your hero has come on the road and the furthest any run has come, the dungeon level, the feet still between your hero and the throne, whether a run is under way, and whether the last one ended with the Crown; for The Scout's Book, which of the scout's pages the book is open at and when it was turned. Nothing else is shared with them, and none of it goes to the developer.
What goes to Apple, and only if you use it
- iCloud backup. If you're signed in to iCloud, your progress (relics, blessings, the callings, weapons and colours you've freed or bought, the scout's pages, the bestiary, your deeds and your settings) is kept in your own iCloud, so a new or reset watch picks it up. Apple stores it in your iCloud account under Apple's Privacy Policy; the developer can't see it. A run in progress and your journal of past runs aren't included. If you aren't signed in to iCloud, everything stays on the watch.
- Game Center. If you're signed in to Game Center, your scores and achievements are sent to Apple's Game Center and shown to your Game Center friends and on leaderboards. This is handled by Apple under Apple's Privacy Policy. You can sign out of Game Center in Settings at any time. The game plays fully without it.
- Epitaphs and the shopkeeper's greetings. On devices that support Apple Intelligence, the game asks Apple's Private Cloud Compute to write a line for your death or for the shopkeeper. What it sends is game data only. For an epitaph: the place and dungeon level where you fell, how many feet down you got, how many creatures you killed, what killed you, and the names of the in-game items you carried. For a greeting: the place and level, how hurt your hero is (unhurt, bloodied or barely standing), and the names of the in-game items for sale. Each request also names the language you're playing the game in, so the line comes back in it. It contains nothing about you. Private Cloud Compute processes the request and keeps none of it. See Apple's Private Cloud Compute.
Children
The game collects no personal information from anyone, including children.
